A Flurry of Pleo News

There’s been a flurry of Pleo posts on the internet over the past day or so thanks to an article by Lance Ulanoff of PC Magazine. In the post Lance details how Bob Christopher brought over a prototype of Pleo to the PC Magazine offices to show him off.

Ulanoff says:

Pleo is cute, fairly cuddly to the touch, and even more fun to watch. It did tricks, responded to vocal and tactile commands, showed emotion, and even danced to beats it provided itself.

We also learn that Pleo will sell for around $250, that he can “make sounds, pretended to be scared, fake a limp, [and] responded to its name”. Also, “the shipping Pleo will have seven touch sensors: a body-tilt sensor, two IR sensors (for motion and object detection and to help it avoid falling down stairs), two microphones, 14 force feedback sensors, and one sensor per foot. It will not, however, ship with a remote.” Pleo will also come with a SD Card slot and USB port for downloading new behaviors and programs.

You can read his thoughts on his personal blog.

The PC Magazine article also features four movies of Pleo in action. We’ll try and upload them to YouTube for easier access.
